NAVS(I)
The National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (India) – NAVS – was registered on 7th July 1993 with the Registrar of Societies, Delhi.
It was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Dairying (Independent Charge) Government of India, Dr. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on 18th December 1996 in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, and the Scrolls of Fellowship to the duly elected National Fellows/Members during 1994-95, were presented to them by the Hon’ble Minister at the Investiture ceremony.
At the time of inauguration, the NAVS had also organized Workshop on Future Directions of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry during 21st Century, which was jointly sponsored by the Veterinary Council of India.
CORRIGENDUM
- The title of “Dr KK BAXI, SENIOR SCIENTIST AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN VETERINARY SCIENCES” to be changed to read as “Dr KK BAXI, OUTSTANDING SCIENTIST AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN VETERINARY SCIENCES.
- The age limit for the eligibility of the applicant for the award to be amended to read as “45 Years to 60 Years (on the last date of the year of submission of the application for the award).”
NAVS Mission & Vision
“To consolidate and promote the views of scientific community on all policy matters related to Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in the welfare of India; to encourage better training and utilization of veterinary talent and enterprise in the country; to strive for advancement of livestock sector in the national economy; to promote animal welfare; to protect environment; and to safeguard the interests of the profession and to gain greater recognition and acclaim for it”.
Academy's objective
The National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (India) – NAVS (I) – was established in 1993 to promote the interests of veterinarians in the country. The Academy was launched with Dr. Chinta Mani Singh, regarded as the doyen of Veterinary Services in India, as its Founder President. President’s Message
My dear revered and esteemed Fellows,
I deem it a privilege and honour to be elected as the President of this august body with an astounding majority. I am very grateful and obliged for the confidence and the faith reposed in me and my team. I assure all of you that we shall strive hard to bring the academy at par with the top academies of the country.
The new Governing Council has come into functioning from 2nd December 2020. I have pleasure in advising you that we have recruited an Honorary Captain M.M. Ansari, as Admin Assistant, who will be available in our office in NAAS Complex from 11 am to 4 pm from Monday to Friday subject to exigencies.
